BENGALURU: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested a youth for blackmailing a 19-year-old girl with their private videos and extorting Rs 2.57 crore from her. He had also allegedly threatened to kill her and her family members if she approached the police.
The accused Mohan Kumar came to know the victim, a resident of Chamarajpet, when they were studying in a boarding school in Devanahalli. They soon got into a relationship and during holidays, they would go on trips to Goa and other places along with Mohan’s friends.
Mohan Kumar had allegedly convinced the girl that he would marry her and had a physical relationship with her. He had also recorded videos of their private moments and later started blackmailing her for money.
The victim had transferred Rs 1.25 crore from her grandmother’s account to different accouts Mohan suggested, apart from Rs 1.32 crore in cash, which was all given over a period of time. Mohan had also pressured the girl to give him gold, expensive watches and a vehicle.
Fed up of the harassment, the victim finally approached the police and lodged a complaint. The FIR also mentions the name of Mohan’s father Ashwath Narayan, Preethi, Likitha, Padmashree and Lavakumar.
