BENGALURU: An argument over producing a photocopy of a bus pass took a dramatic turn with a youth allegedly assaulting Peenya police sub-inspector Siddu Hugar in the police station on Wednesday. To add to it, the family members of the youth also created a ruckus at the police station by kicking the door.
Mounesh (20), who was travelling in a bus, produced a photocopy of his bus pass to which the conductor objected and asked for the original. The youth then picked an argument saying that women are allowed to travel by producing photocopies of the Aadhaar card and that his photocopy should suffice. He also assaulted the bus conductor.
When things went out of hand, the driver brought the bus to the Peenya police station. There, Mounesh and his brother, who had arrived by then, allegedly punched the police sub-inspector in the face and kicked him in his private parts. The injured SI was shifted to a private hospital where senior officers visited him. The police immediately arrested Mounesh while his brother managed to escape.
Mounesh’s father Rajanna said he was a bit upset after the NEET results were announced on Tuesday. “In the morning, he asked me to drop him to college, but I dropped him at Gangamma Circle from where he took a BMTC bus. Later, Mounesh was crying when called from the police station. When I came to the police station, the SI had thrashed my elder son and I sent him outside. Mounesh told me that the SI had thrashed him too and abused him in foul language. At this time, all the policemen at the station got together, pinned my son to the ground and assaulted him”, he claimed.
Based on bus conductor Ashok’s complaint, the Peenya police have registered an FIR against Mounesh for preventing a government servant from discharging his duty under IPC Sections 504, 503 and 353 and arrested him. Another FIR is likely to be filed against him for allegedly assaulting the sub-inspector.
