Women’s commission expresses dissatisfaction over SIT’s functioning in Dharmasthala case

BENGALURU: The State Women’s Commission has intervened in the Dharmasthala case, expressing dissatisfaction with the SIT’s functioning. The commission has written to the SIT chief, stating that it has not been investigating cases related to women comprehensively.

The Commission has pointed out that the SIT was formed to investigate cases related to women, but so far, no information has come out. The SIT’s investigation has been limited to the statement of Chinnaiah before a court, who claimed to have buried hundreds of bodies and produced a human skeleton before a court.

The Commission has asked the SIT to investigate the reasons behind the deaths, identify the skeletal remains and determine how they ended up in the forest area. The SIT should also probe cases of missing women and girls, rape, murder, and other unnatural, suspicious deaths, it said.
