TUMAKUR: More than 5,000 women staged a protest in Tumakuru city, alleging that the JD(S) candidate was trying to sexually exploit them by calling them for election campaign.

The protesting women demanded that the party take action against the candidate Govindaraju and that he should be expelled from the party without issuing him the B-form.

They expressed displeasure with the JD(S) candidate claiming that if such person becomes an MLA of this constituency, women may fear to come out of their houses during daytime.

A woman opposing Govindarju, said, “We do not need such characterless candidates. If the allegation is not true, who will have the courage to lie about him character? It is left to the JD(S) leadership, let them select a fresh candidate. We wish Sogadu Shivanna to be the new JD(S) candidate though he not joined JD(S) yet”.
