Vikas Marmat and his other friends rushed to help the woman when a heated argument broke between police and the IAS officer. Enraged by this, Marmat allegedly shouted at a police officer in vulgar language.
Even as the confrontation was going on, an ACP rank officer arriver at the spot. By then, the police had confirmed that the person creating ruckus was IAS officer. There were also phone calls from influential Andhra politicians in favour of Marmat and hence, the police were unable to do much and let him off, sources said.
