VIJAYAPURA: A woman saved her four-year-old son from an alleged kidnapper after she heard his cries, at Basavanage in the district on Thursday. The man was caught by locals, tied to a pole and later handed over to the police.

The boy, son of Santosh and Renuka, had gone to a shop when the alleged kidnapper took him away. Hearing his cries, Renuka gave him a chase and rescued her son. Locals caught the alleged kidnapper and tied him to a pole.

The man behaved to be mentally unstable and gave out different names when locals questioned about his identity. He gave his name as Dada Peer, Kasim, Salim and Mehboob. According to Renukar, the man gave his name as Abdullah at the police station. Further investigation in on.
