SHIVAMOGGA: Tense moments prevailed for some time at Shivappa Nayak Circle here today when a woman suddenly raised slogans of ‘Allah hu Akbar’ while a crowd was celebrating the consecration of the Ram temple at Ayodhya.

Senior BJP leader K S Eshwarappa was addressing a small gathering to mark the consecration of the Ram temple at Ayodhya, in Shivamogga on Monday.

Senior BJP leader K S Eshwarappa was addressing a small crowd soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi consecrated the Ram Lalla idol at Ayodhya. To mark the occasion, sweets were also being distributed and the crowd was raising chants of ‘Jai Sri Ram’.

A Muslim woman, who was going on a two-wheeler along with a young boy, stopped by and was videographic the incident on her mobile phone. Suddenly she started accusing Prime Minister Modi of being corrupt and cheating the people.

At this, some people in the crowd started chanting ‘Jai Sri Ram’ and angered by this, the woman started raising slogans of ‘Allah hu Akbar’. She also accused the police of siding with the BJP.

BJP leader Kantesh demanded that the police arrest the woman.

Eshwarappa’s son Kantesh demanded the police, who were present there, to arrest the woman. He accused the police of being silent spectators even while the woman was ‘creating a nuisance’. Even as the police led the woman away to detain her, the crowd chanted ‘Jai Sri Ram’.

The woman was removed from the spot by the police.

The woman’s father later told the police that she was of unsound mind and had been availing treatment since 2018. He also produced her medical records. Superintendent of Police Mithun Kumar also confirmed to media persons that the woman was undergoing psychiatric treatment.
