BAGALKOT: The Amingarh police have cracked a hit-and-run case, in which a two-wheeler rider died, with the arrest of his wife.
Around 12.30 am on July 2, Praveen Sebannavar (30), was knocked by an unidentified vehicle near Kamatagi Cross in Hunagund taluk of Bagalkot district. Though it looked like an accident, the injury marks and the spot where the two-wheeler was found gave rise to suspicion that it may have been a murder.
The Amingarh police questioned the wife Nitya who spilled the beans. Nitya was having an affair with Raghavendra and they both plotted to eliminate Praveen.
On the fatefuly day, Nithya and her lover crashed a car into Praveen and fled. When Praveen called Nitya to inform her that he was involved in an accident, the duo returned and hit him with the car again. After making sure Praveen was dead, Nitya and Raghavendra fled the scene.
The police have now taken up further investigation.
