CHIKKAMAGALUR: Four days after the brutal killing of rowdy ‘Handi’ Anni in Shivamogga, his killers have surrendered before Chikkamagaluru Superintendent of Police Akshay late on Monday night.
The gang of eight arrived at the SP’s office late in the night and admitted to have killed ‘Handi’ Anni over old rivalry. They are now in the custody of the Chikkamagaluru police.
The killers told the police that they eliminated Anni to avenge the murder of another rowdy, Bunk Balu, in 2018. Those who surrendered include Karthik, Nitin, Manu, Farooq, Chandan, Anjaneya, Madhusudhan and Madhu.
“The killers have surrendered and have given all details about their movement. They have informed us that they are scared to go to Shivamogga and why they turned up in Chikkamagalur. At the outset, they seem to be the killers and we have informed the Shivamogga police”, the SP said.
‘Handi’ Anni, a notorious rowdy, was hacked to death in broad daylight on a main thoroughfare in Shivamogga last Thursday. Shocked onlookers ran helter-skelter even as the attackers rained blows on the rowdy with deadly weapons near the Vinoba Nagar police station.
‘Handi’ Anni (40) was facting several cases of murder and dacoity. The attackers, who came in a Toyota Innova MUV, chose a desolate place near a police outpost to carry out the murder. Anni sustained serious injury on the head and other parts of the body.
