BENGALURU: A woman killed her two children, aged seven and nine, on Tuesday night, apparently as she was finding it difficult to look after them as she had no job. The accused is Gangadevi and her children are Lakshmi (7) and Gautam (9).
Gangadevi had filed a case against her husband in March last year alleging that he was sexually assaulting their daughter. The Jalahalli police had arrested the husband and he was sent to jail.
The woman killed her children around 9:30 pm on Tuesday as she was reportedly finding it difficult to take care of them. Gangadevi herself called the police control room after committing the crime.
She admitted to the police that she had killed her children by smothering them and had also thought of committing suicide. As soon as they received the information, the police rushed to the scene.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Saidulu Adavath said that the woman had killed her son and daughter by suffocating them with the pillow. “She then called the control room and informed about the crime. She got married ten years ago and her husband was working as a contractual civic worker. She also works for a private company.
Gangadevi had filed a complaint against her husband following which a case under the POCSO Act was registered against him last month. The police provided counseling to the couple after the case was filed, and her husband was arrested last month. It is said that she killed her children as she was fed up with family problems.
