Woman held for allegedly attempting to influence judge through black magic

CHIKKABALLAPUR: A 65-year-old woman was arrested a few days ago for allegedly performing black magic on the chair of the 1st Additional Senior Civil Judge and JMFC court in Chikkaballapur, police said.

According to Chikkaballapur Police, the accused, identified as Manjula, allegedly entered the court premises and performed black magic by sprinkling enchanted white mustard seeds on the judge’s chair.

Police said the incident came to light after CCTV footage, recorded two days ago, allegedly captured the woman carrying out the act inside the courtroom. “CCTV footage captured the woman allegedly sprinkling enchanted white mustard seeds on the judge’s chair two days ago,” the official added.

Based on a complaint lodged by the court’s Chief Administrative Officer, Nethra, a case was registered and an investigation was launched, following which the accused was arrested.

Police said a case has been registered against the woman under the Karnataka Prevention and Eradication of Inhuman Evil Practices and Black Magic Act, 2017. “The court has remanded the woman to 14 days of judicial custody,” police added. Further investigation into the matter is under way. (ANI)
