Woman finds cockroach in food at hotel, files complaint

BENGALURU: A woman, residing in Sunakadakatte, has filed a complaint against the owner of Gurushri Hotel in Nayandahalli, after she found a a cockroach in her food. The incident occurred on the February 23 when she had visited the hotel for lunch.

As she was eating, Gayathri discovered the cockroach in her food, which led to her vomiting and feeling nauseous. She immediately took photos of the insects and the hotel’s kitchen, which revealed poor hygiene conditions, including a lizard in the kitchen area.

When Gayathri questioned the hotel owner about the incident, he allegedly became aggressive and told her to “do whatever she wanted to.” Unhappy with the response, Gayathri approached the Byatarayanapura police station and filed a complaint against the hotel owner.

Gayathri later sought medical attention at a hospital, where she was treated for food poisoning and stomach issues. The police have registered a complaint against the hotel owner, and an investigation is under way.

“I was hungry and had took a rice-sambar and curd rice. There was a cockroach in the curd rice which I had half eaten. On seeing that, I vomitted. When I questioned the youth at the cash counter, he did not respond. By the time I threw up and came back, the hotel staff had removed the food from the table. I was later hospitalised and the building owner said I could do whatever I wanted to”, she told Public TV.

The incident has sparked outrage, with many calling for action against the hotel owner for compromising on hygiene and food safety standards.
