Woman ends life by jumping into river from moving train in Bantwal taluk

The woman jumped off the train when it was crossing a bridge.

MANGALURU: A 25-year-old woman ended her life by jumping into the Nethravati river from a moving train as it was crossing a bridge, in Bantwal taluk on Wednesday. The deceased is Nayana MG, a resident of Padasalahatti Madhugiri taluk of Tumakuru district.

Nayana’s body was fished out from the river.

Nayana was travelling on the Kannur-Bengaluru-Mangaluru train and jumped into the river when the train was passing over a bridge. She had left behind her bag on her seat. However, the reason for her suicide was not immediately known. She would have turned 26 in five days.

The body was fished out from the river and shifted to the Bantwal taluk hospital for post-mortem examination. The Bantwal Town police have registered a case and further investigation is under way.
