MANGALURU: One woman died and another sustained injuries after a landslip occurred right behind their house, bringing down the walls. The incident occurred at Nandavara in Sajeepamunnur village of Bantwal taluk on Friday.
Zareena (46) and Shafa (20) were buried under the walls of their house, but Shafa was rescued immediately. The locals, along with the Fire and Emergency Services and police personnel managed to retrieve the body of Zareena from under the debris. Zareena was the mother of Shafa.
Bantwal tahsildar S B Kudalagi visited the spot and oversaw the rescue efforts. Dakshina Kannada district has been witnessing heavy rain over the last five days.
