BELAGAVI: In a freak accident, a woman came under the front wheel of a moving bus and died on the spot after the motorcycle on which she was riding pillion accidentally brushed against a pedestrian carrying big bag on his shoulder. The incident occurred three days ago and came to light only now.
In CCTV footage available, an aged man can be seen walking down a road with a bag on his left shoulder. A motorcycle rider and his pillion, identified later as Vidyashree (32), pass the man from the opposite direction even as a bus is moving next to them when the motorcycle handle accidentally brushes against the man and the rider loses control.
Both the motorcycle rider and his pillion fall on to the road just ahead of the bus and the woman is run over, leading to her death on the spot. The motorcycle rider, who was wearing a helmet, had a miraculous escape.
Vidyashree, who hailed from Dharwad, was going to a relative’s house in Belagavi on a motorcycle when the accident occurred. The Market police have registered a case.
