KOLAR: A woman attempted suicide after setting her two children on fire after dousing them in petrol at Anjanadri Hill in Mulbagal town in the district on Tuesday.
While one of the children died, the other sustained burn injuries and is undergoing treatment in the critical care unit at the Mulbagal government hospital.
The mother, Jyothi, hails from Andhra Pradesh. She was found by locals sitting beside her two children, whom she had wrapped in straw mats and remained unmoved.
However, the reason which prompted her to kill her children and end her own life was not clear. Police visited the spot shifted the children to hospital. Jyothi has since been arrested and further investigation is under way.
