BENGALURU: A Rapido bike taxi rider was arrested by the Electronics City police for allegedly masturbating while ferrying a woman passenger.
The accused has been identified as Guruvenkatappa, who hails from Haveri. He was staying with a friend in Sampagiramnagar. He was using his friend’s bike on Friday and had picked up a woman who had booked a ride on the Rapido app.
The woman narrated her ordeal on Twitter, accusing the bike rider of masturbating along the way and dropping her off midway. After a Twitter user shared her ordeal with the city police commissioner, the city police got in touch with her and later arrested the rider. She got a response from the Rapido team as well saying that the rider had been deplatformed.
In another case, a Rapido autorickshaw driver allegedly assaulted a customer in Mico Layout police station limits.
Sharad Agarwal had booked a Rapido auto for BTM Phase-2. Meanwhile, his friend had booked an Uber car as the auto was late. The Rapido auto and Uber car reached the booking location at the same time.
At this time, Sharad was about to cancel the booking of the Rapido auto, but the auto driver warned him not to cancel the booking. Sharad started filming the whole scene while arguing with him and the auto driver tried to snatch the phone to stop him from shooting a video.
After Sharad shared video clips on Twitter, the Mico Layout police advised him to file a complaint at the station. After a complaint was lodged, the Mico Layout police called the Rapido driver and questioned him.
