Woman alleges gangrape, five arrested

BENGALURU: A woman has alleged gangrape after a party in Maruthinagar, under Talaghattapura police station limits. Following her complaint, five men have been arrested.

The victim, a resident of Devanahalli, was acquaintanted with two people in the group of five. The prime accused Somasekhar, who works at a security agency, invited young woman saying some friends had come from Kalaburagi. Somasekhar called her around 5 pm on the day of the incident and the woman reached the spot by Rapido around 7 pm.

The group partied and talking together. At that time, one Ambarish initially raped the young woman. However, she immediately freed herself from the accused and called 112. Police who visited the spot arrested all five accused including Somashekar and Ambarish. They also got a medical examination of the woman done and registered a case.

Southwest Division DCP Anitha Haddananavar said, “The woman filed a complaint saying Somashekar and others together raped her. He called her by booking a cab for a birthday party. At the hotel he gave a party and then asked her to go home with friends. Ambarish took her home with his friends and the woman claimed that they mixed something in a cold drink and gave it to her. She has filed a complaint saying that while she was semi-conscious, one of the five, Ambarish, committed rape while the others were watching from the hall”.
