With no money to enter Nandi Hills, gang robs farmer; 2 arrested

The group of friends who had been to Nandi Hills and robbed a farmer.

CHIKKABALLAPUR: A group of youths, who were looking to chill out at Nandi Hills, were in for disappointment when they went all the way up and realised that they had to pay entry fee. However, since none of them had money, they decided to return. On their way back, they robbed a farmer of Rs 25,200 and a mobile phone, went back to Nandi Hills and partied.

The incident occurred on April 29 and the Doddaballapur Rural police have now arrested Syed Salim and Syed Habibullah, residents of Govindapura in Nagawara, in connection with the robbery.

On that day, when the group of friends was returning, they saw that the farmer, Rajanna, was on his two-wheeler alone, and waylaid him on Melekote road on the pretext of asking for directions to the Ghati temple. They took away cash of Rs 25,200 on Rajanna’s person and his Redmi mobile phone after threatening him with a knife.

Rajanna was returning from the APMC in Doddaballapur to his native village Melekote after selling his beans crop on his two-wheeler.

With the money, the group went to Nandi Hills and later partied with liquor and non-vegetarian food.

The police have now arrested two youths and are on the lookout for the others. They have also recovered Rs 10,000 in cash.
