With crumbling infrastructure, Brand Bengaluru takes a hit

BENGALURU: The crumbling infrastructure in the city, which is being battered by rain over the last few days, is yet again making national headlines.

 

Chairman of Manipal Global Education, T V Mohandas Pai had tweeted tagging Prime Minist Narendra Modi, Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, Urban Development Minister Hardeep Singh Puri and others saying, “@narendramodi Sir pl help Bengaluru, our streets have debris, garbage, drains are blocked… . Does all this need more money or better governance? Our Metro is behind schedule, There is total mismanagemetn, Pl review our Major projects.”

About two months ago, several corporate honchos too had highlighted the pitiable condition of the city’s roads and poor basic amenities.

Following Pai’s tweet, the Prime Minister’s Office had sought details from the state government. The city’s roads have constantly seen ongoing works in the name of Smart City project, piped gas project, Metro rail, etc. However, the authorities have failed to set right the city’s infrastructure, which has directed affected Brand Bengaluru.

Whether the Prime Minister himself can rescue the city from its misery remains to be seen.
