BAGALKOT: Amid the allegations of bribery in allotment of houses to the poor under different housing schemes, and MLAs cyring foul over lack of development projects in their constituencies, Home Minister G Parameshwara has openly admitted that the state government is short of funds for development works.

Speaking at the inauguration of a new fire station building at Badami on Monday, Parameshwara suggested that a Rs 1,000 crore plan should be drafted for the development and beautification of Badami which should be sent to the Union government. “We don’t have money, Siddaramaiah doesn’t have money… Siddaramanna doesn’t have money, we have given it to you (people)”, he said.

Even as he made the remarks, those on the dais broke into laughter. “We have given rice, pulses and even ‘enne’ (liquor) to you (people)”, while gesturing towards Excise Minister R B Timmapur who was also on stage. He also suggested to Badami MLA Bhimsen Chimmanakatti to come up with a Rs 1,000 crore project for development of Badami.

“Don’t be scared of the word one thousand”, he joked with the MLA. “If the proposal is sent to the Centre, Badami can be protetcted and town can also be beautified and developed”, the Home minister added.
