BENGALURU: In a shocking case, it has come to light that eight members of a family indulged in thieving and picking pockets. This was revealed during the interrogation of some of the family members who were caught by the police in a case of picking pockets. The police were shocked and surprised on coming to know of this from those arrested.

The matter came to light when the SR Nagar police detained a group of pick-pickpockets and interrogated them. Everyone in the family, including the husband, wife, brother, brother-in-law and their children, were thieves. They were involved in thefts as a fulltime job and were living in the city as they could find easy targets.

The family, including Velu, Sunderraj, Mahesh and others, which resided in Banashankari, would have a meeting together in the morning and make plans. Then, the eight members of the family would set out in different directions after deciding who would pick pockets at which bus station, railway station, or bus route as per their plan. Similarly, they used to steal gold jewellery, wallets and mobile phones by diverting people’s attention on crowded BMTC buses,

They led an easy life by selling stolen items in the evening. They were emboldened by the fact that people would not lodge complaints with the police over small items and small amounts of money. Now, the team of pickpockets has been caught by the police and more than 25 cases have come to light during the investigation.
