BENGALURU: Months after several localities witnessed flooding during the monsoon season in the city, the water level is yet to recede in some layouts in Ramohalli.

The water level has not receded even after months after flooding in the month of September.

In the months of August and September, heavy rain caused flooding in many parts of the city. The residential layout in Ramohalli was flooded with water after the lake overflowed. While some houses have come up, owners of five sites have taken up construction. Some of the houses in the layout have been cut off as there is no way to enter. The residents and site owners have complained to officials, but no one has responded yet.

“The layout is in Ramohalli, but it comes under Chunchanakuppe Gram Pachayath. The water level has not receded ever since the lake overflowed. It’s been four months since the construction of our house started and it has become difficult to bring in construction material. We tried numerous times to remove the water, but could not. We filed a complaint with the authorities, but they have not responded” said Bhagya, a site owner in Ramohalli Layout.

Vanajakshi, the owner of a partly constructed house in the layout.

“We had started construction of our house, but due to heavy rain, water overflowed from the lake and the whole place is filled with water. We took up construction after taking a loan from a bank. These days, we are paying rent and interest on the loan whereas the construction work is yet to be completed. We filed a complaint with the authorities, but no one has responded yet. We want an early solution to the problem”, said Vanajakshi, the owner of a partly constructed house in the layout.
