War of words between Dalit leaders, Sri Rama Sene activist at ADGP’s public meeting

KALABURAGI: A war of words broke out between Dalit activists and Sri Rama Sene activists during a public grievances meeting chaired by Additional Director General of Police (law and order) Alok Kumar at the police commissioner’s office here on Tuesday.

Alok Kumar was in Kalaburagi to receive public grievances. During the event, Mahesh Gobbaru, an activist of the Sri Rama Sene, said there have been increasing cases of communal clashes in Kalaburagi and blamed Dalit organisations for it.

Mahesh was allowed on stage and give a representation to the ADGP. Another representation was also taken from the Dalit groups.

Angered by his remark, Dalit leaders got into a shouting match and demanded Mahesh’s arrest. With the atmosphere getting charged up, the police quickly led Mahesh out of the public meeting.
