BENGALURU: Sandalwood actor Darshan’s wife Vijayalakshmi on Thursday visited him in Ballari jail along with his brother Dinakar Thoogudeepa. They discussed the legal battle ahead with Darshan and had brought dry fruits, biscuits and prasada for him.
Actor Darshan and 17 other accused in the Renukaswamy murder case appeared before the 24th ACMM court judge through video conference from different jails. While, Darshan was present from Ballari jail, Pavithra Gowda appeared from Parappana Agrahara Central jail. The other accused were present from Belagavi, Shivamogga and Tumakuru jails.
The sessions court judge adjourned the hearing until tomorrow and directed the Special Public Prosecutor (SPP) to submit digital evidence by then. The SPP had sought time to submit the evidence, saying it would take a week. The judge has ordered the SPP to submit 17 copies of the digital evidence tomorrow.
Darshan’s lawyer Shivakumar said they need a week’s time to file a bail application as they are yet to receive the certified copies of the case documents. He said that they can file the bail application only after receiving the certified copies, which may take up to one week.
Currently, Darshan’s lawyers have only received the chargesheet. The prosecution has sought time till tomorrow to submit the technical evidence. After submitting the technical evidence, the case will be committed to the sessions court.
