Dalit mason tied up, beaten for asking to be paid pending wages

The mason was allegedly tied up and assaulted for seeking his wages.

KOLAR: A Dalit man who works as a mason was allegedly tied up, abused in the name of caste and brutally assaulted for asking to be paid his pending wages towards construction of a house.

Amaresh (29), a resident of Doddavalagamadi village in Bangarpet taluk, was working on the new house of one Jagadish Singh of the same village.

The house on which the mason had worked.

Of the total wages of Rs 3,500, he had received Rs 2,000. When he went to ask for the pending wages, he was abused in the name of caste, taken near the house where he was tied up and beaten badly.

The police have arrested Jagadish Singh and Satish Singh in this connection and are on the lookout for Ravindra Singh, the third accused.
