MANGALURU: Veteran Yakshagana and Talamaddale artiste and former MLA Kumble Sundar Rao (88) passed away at his residence here due to age-related health issues on Wednesday.

Kumble Sundar Rao (88) passed away due to age-related illness.

Kumble Sundar Rao was born to Kayakardy Kunjikanna and Kalyani on March 20, 1934, at Kumble in Kerala. He was a Tenkutittu, Yakshagana and Talamaddale artiste for more than 50 years and performed in Yakshagana show at different melas. He was also MLA for Suratkal constituency between 1994 and 1999 and was president of the Karnataka State Yakshagana Academy.

His mortal remains will be kept for public viewing at his residence at Pumpwell and his final rites will be held on December 1.
