BENGALURU: Veteran Kannada actor Lohitashwa (80) passed away at Sagar Hospital in Kumaraswamy Layout on Tuesday after suffering from age-related illnesses.
Lohitashwa had acted in more than 500 films with top actors like Dr Rajkumar, Vishnuvardhan, Ambarish and Shankar Nag. He was a post-graduate from the University of Mysore and served as an English professor. He had made a name for himself in many fields — literature, theatre, cinema and television serials. He acted in the popular television series ‘Malgudi Days’.
Arrangements were made for his fans and the public to pay their last respect in his residence at Kumaraswamy Layout. The final rites will be conducted at Thondagere in Tumakuru on Wednesday evening.
