BENGALURU: Veteran Kannada actor Dr M Leelavathi has dedicated a well-equipped primary health centre at Rampura, Soladevanahalli village of Nelamangala taluk, for the benefit of the people in the rural pockets in the area.
Dr M Leelavathi had founded a small primary health centre about 10 years ago. Her son and actor Vinod Raj sold their property in Chennai to fulfill his mother’s wish of having a better equipped health facility. He has now built a well-equipped hospital with all amenities and laboratory equipment at a cost of around Rs 1.20 crore.
“The aim is to provide good healthcare facilities to rural people. The hospital has a well-equipped laboratory and we will hand over the health centre to the Health Department. The health centre will be inaugurated soon. Around 15-20 villages will benefit from this. With my mother’s hard work and divine blessings, we could build this, “said Leelavathi’s son and actor Vinod Raj.
“I have been working for the past nine years. It was a small health care centre and there were too many patients coming. The PHC lacked basic facilities. But now they have built a well-equipped hospital. All kinds of facilities have been set up to help the local people,” said Dr Manjula.
