BENGALURU: Following instances of child abduction previously, the city’s Vanivilas Hospital for Women and Children has now taken up the task of creating awareness about child lifters and is taking precautionary steps. But all that is done is new mothers and their relatives are warned to look after their child.

In 2020, cases of abduction of the children from the hospital had gone viral, creating panic among people, especially the poorer section. Patients come from all corners of the state to seek treatment at this hospital.

The Vanivilas hospital staff are taking precautions and creating awareness by informing people not to give their child to unknown people. Every three hours, parents are warned about child lifters through public address system.

Warning signs can be seen in every corner of the hospital.

Cautionary boards have been put up in the ICU ward, the maternity ward, the special ward, and the mother-and-child ward inside the hospital, to be wary of child lifters at the entry gates. Parents have been advised to be cautious of their children, and to notify hospital staff if they see any suspicious people.
