Vande Bharat train targeted in Chikkamagaluru; two boys detained for Davanagere incident

Miscreants targeted the Vande Bharat train somewhere between Arasikere and Birur on Wednesday morning.

CHIKKAMAGALUR, DAVANAGERE: In yet another instance, a window pane of a Vande Bharat train was damaged after micreants pelted it with stones between Arasikere and Birur around 8.45 am today. Only last Saturday, a window pane of the newly launched Vande Bharat train was damaged between Dharwad and Davanagere.

According to railway officials, some boys residing in a slum pelted the stones at the train, but they are not sure of the exact location. The Railway Police authorities visited the spot and are gathering information about the miscreants.

Last Saturday, the train was targeted in Davanagere.

Meanwhile, the Government Railway Police (GRP) and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have taken two minor boys into custody for damaging the train when it was running between Dharwad and Davanagere. Both boys, aged 12, are residents of SS Nagar and Basha Nagar in Davanagere.

The two boys had pelted stones at the train around 3.30 pm last Saturday, damaging its window pane. Both were taken into custody and handed over to the Bala Mandir in Chitradurga.

The GRP and the RPF are now providing protection to the Vande Bharat train in Davanagere by posting personnel at every 500 mts to prevent stone-throwing incidents.
