The Uzbek national was found dead in her hotel room.

BENGALURU: An Uzbek national, identified as Zareen, was found murdered in a hotel room in Seshadripuram on Wednesday. Police suspect that she was smothered to death.

Zareen arrived in the city on a tourist visa four days ago and was staying in a room on the second floor of Jagadish Hotel. When the hotel staff checked on her around 4.30 pm yesterday, Zareen did not respond. Around midnight, the hotel staff entered the room using a master key and found her dead.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Arunangshu Giri, along with the Seshadripuram police, forensic and dog squads visited the spot. Police suspect that the woman may have been suffocated to death and were going through the hotel ledgers and CCTV footage. The body was sent to Bowring Hospital for post-mortem examination.

Based on a complaint from the hotel manager, the Seshadripuram police have registered a case of murder. Further investigation is under way.
