The woman hotel owner refused to serve the Dalit youths.

BALLARI: Despite untouchability being outlawed, the practice continues unchecked in the hinterland. In one such case which has come to light recently, a woman hotel owner at Guttiganur village in Kurugod taluk refused to serve food to Dalits.

A peace meeting was held in the village after the incident.

The woman allegedly said that she would rather close the hotel than serve the Dalit youths. A video of the verbal exchange, wherein the youths can be seen objecting to her conduct, has since gone viral.

Upon receiving information, Kurugod tahsildar Raghavendra and other officials visited the village. The officials, along with the police, also held a peace meeting with the two sides.
