Unidentified attacker kills woman riding scooter by slitting her throat

DAVANAGERE: A woman who was was riding on her two-wheeler waskilled in broad daylight by slitting her throat even as she near Lourdes Church in PG Extension here on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Chand

A large crowd gathered at the scene.

Sultana (28), a resident of Vinoba Nagar. She collapsed on her scooter and bled to death in the middle of the road.
In CCTV footage, a man is seen talking to her and suddenly whips out a weapon and strikes her repeatedly with it.

The police are yet to identify the killer. A few months ago, Sultana got engaged to a man from Harihar. This was opposed by another man, who is suspected to be behind the killing.

Mustafa, a tax consultant and auditor, with whom Chand Sultana was working, said, “She had done her MCom and was working at my office at the Muslim Hostel. She was very good at work and was very soft spoken. She was the lone child in her family and her father owns a truck. She had got engaged to Ayub, who hails from Harihar and also works in my office. in a few months time they were to get married. I had asked her to come in a little early today and this happened.”

Davanagere SP C B Ryshyanth visited the spot.

Davanagere Superintedent of Police C B Ryshyanth , who visited the spot, said, “Chand Sultana used to work in an auditor’s office. She was murdered on 9th Main, Church Road. Prima facie, she was stabbed to death. Our technical teams are arriving and further investigation will be taken up.”
