BENGALURU: A convict committed suicide by hanging himself with a shoelace in a toilet at Parappana Agrahara jail. The deceased has been identified as Sunil.
He was arrested in a murder case and a court had sentenced him to three years imprisonment. Sunil was supposed to be released from jail on June 2. A case has been registered at Parappana Agrahara police station in this regard.
After Sunil’s conviction, his wife had decided to sell their property and get him released on bail, but his applications had been rejected. The couple has a three-year-old baby girl, but Sunil had never seen the child.
Sunil had feared that some people may kill him or that his body may be found hanging. It is said that he was spending his days in jail under stress.
Sunil was an accused in the murder of history-sheeter Vinod of Kaggalipura which took place in July 2020. Sunil and his gang killed Vinod with machetes in front of his sister near Tataguni Estate, when the latter was visiting her. Vinod was the nephew of Anjanapura corporator Somashekhar. Sunil had killed Vinod over some dispute in the real estate business and other issues.
