Two-year-old child killed, grandfather a suspect

CHIKKABALLAPUR: The body of a two-year-old child was found under suspicious circumstances in a water sump next to an under-construction building at Rechanaikapalli village of Bagepalli taluk.

The place where the body was found is just a stone’s throw away from her home. The victim is Lalitha Reddy, daughter of Rajasekhara Reddy and Kanyakumari of the village.

There was a family dispute between Kanyakumari and his mother-in-law, and a complaint was lodged at the police station. It is said that Kanyakumari was not on talking terms with her in-laws.

Kanyakumari left her child at her in-laws’ house to go the fields for work, when the child died suspiciously.

It is said that the child’s grandfather Somasekhar Reddy, over the last three days, would take the child from the farm land while she was playing to buy her chocolate. The grandfather had not spoken to the child for long, but had suddenly started showing much care and affection. Therefore, the parents expressed suspicion Somashekar Reddy may committed the murder. A case has been registered in this regard at Patapalya police station.
