BENGALURU: Two women were arrested by the Chikkajala police in the city for kidnapping a four-year-old boy. Police cracked the case within five hours of the case being registered. Hemavati and Khurshid alias Kamalamma were the kidnappers.
Hemavati, who worked at a salon, had been married twice, but was unhappy with both husbands. She desired a male child and confided in her friend Khurshid alias Kamalamma. Khurshid came up with a plan to kidnap a child from their neighborhood, a four-year-old boy named Siddharth, who was the son of a construction labourer named Ammaraiah.
Khurshid suggested that Hemavati kidnap the child, and she would take care of the rest. She had received Rs 1 lakh for providing information about the child.

The police received a complaint about the kidnapping and began investigating. They reviewed CCTV footage, which showed a woman taking away the child. However, the woman changed her clothes, making it difficult for the police to identify her.
Further investigation revealed that the woman was Hemavati and she had been staying in Chikkajala area. The police tracked down Khurshid alias Kamalamma, who admitted to the crime after being questioned. Khurshid had converted to Islam after marrying a Muslim man and had changed her name.
