Schoolchildren being taught under leaky roofs as continuous rain pours misery

VIJAYAPURA, KOPPAL: With the continuous rain over the last three days in Vijayapura district, the roof of the classrooms at the government higher primary school rooms at Rajanala village in Indi taluk are leaking.

As a result of the leaking roof and the shortage of classrooms in the school, students are forced to sit in the corridor of the school whenever it rains.

The villagers have demanded that the authorities concerned make some alternative arrangements immediately. There are 300 students enrolled in the school, but there is a shortage of classrooms. The district administration should pay immediate attention to revamping the school and need to take quick action, they demanded.

In Koppal, students of the Basavandurga Government Higher Primary School in Gangavati taluk are facing a similar problem. The teachers are forced teach the students sitting under leaky classroom. They are in constant fear of the ceiling collapsing due to the dampness caused as a result of the continuous rain. It has been raining in the district for the past three to four days.
