Two-wheeler owner pays Rs 27,000 in fines for 100 violations

BENGALURU: A two-wheeler owner, whose vehicle had a whopping 100 traffic violation cases, paid a total fine of Rs 27,500 under the 50 per cent rebate scheme announced by the government and the city traffic police.

The vehicle owner paid up the fine at the Rajajinagar traffic police station and has vowed to follow traffic rules henceforth. The city traffic police are offering a rebate on traffic fines for 20 more days from June 21 to July 10. This will be applicable only if violations occurred within Bengaluru traffic police limits.

Last time, vehicle owners paid fines worth crores when a rebate of 50 per cent was announced on traffic fines. Last year, the traffic police had given time from November 21 to December 12 and collected Rs 28,35,28,900 from 10.02 lakh cases. Along with online, police have also opened counters at twelve locations in the city where motorists can avail the rebate and pay up the fine.
