Two men moving around suspiciously in village handed over to police

CHAMARAJANAGAR: Two men, who were said to be moving around suspiciously near a temple in Channappanapura village on Tuesday night, were apprehended by the villagers and handed over to the police.

The two men were seen near the Veerabhadreshwara temple in the village and were questioned by the villagers. When their phones were checked, a video of the same temple was found in their phone.

Suspecting that the duo may have come to steal the temple ‘kalash’ for rice pulling tricks, the villagers informed the police. Three years ago, some unidentified men has stolen the ‘kalash’ from the same temple, the villagers said.

The Chamarajanagar Rural police arrived in the village and took the two men into custody. It is said that the duo did not reveal their names or place of residence properly to the police. Further investigation is under way.
