Two men attack wives in separate cases; one dead, another battling for life

GADAG, VIJAYAPURA: A man attacked his wife, who works with the postal department, with a machete when she was going about distributing mail at Mundargi town. A domestic dispute is said to be the reason for the attack. The woman is now battling for life in hospital.

Belurappa Pujar struck his wife Geetha Pujar (36) in the next, arm and leg and stood weilding the machete till the police arrived. He even threatened the locals who tried to intervene. He was later taken into custody by the Mundargi police who have registered a case.

Geetha was first rushed to the taluk hospital in Mundargi and later shifted to the district hospital. She hails from Kushtagi in Koppal taluk.

In another case, a man murdered his wife, suspecting her fidelity, and assaulted his mother-in-law when she tried to intervene, at Kambadi village in Babaleshwar taluk, on Tuesday.

The accused is Sabu Galave and his deceased wife is Yellavva Galave. Her mother Souravva, who sustained grievous injuries, is undergoing treatment at the district government hospital. The Babaleshwar police have registered a case.
