Two, including realtor, murdered by a gang in Dharwad

DHARWAD: Two people, including a real estate businessman, were murdered by a gang on the outskirts of Kamalapur in the district on Thursday night.

The deceased are realtor Muhammad Kudachi and Ganesh Shekar Kammar, a staff nurse at the Rangadore Memorial Hospital at Shankarpuram, Basavanagudi in Bengaluru.

A group attacked Muhammad with the machetes when he was sitting in the front yard of his house in Kamalapur on the outskirts of Dharwad. Muhammed died on the spot. The body of Ganesh was found a little distance away from Muhammad’s house in a pool of blood.

Police Commissioner Raman Gupta said they are probing the murder of Muhammed Kudachi (right and Ganesh Kammar from all angles.

Police Commissioner Raman Gupta said, ” The incident occurred between 10.30 pm and 11 pm on Thursday. We are making all efforts to arrest accused in the case. The dog squad, fingerprint experts and other officers visited the scene. We will take immediate action”.

The Police Commissioner, along with other officers from the suburban station police, visited the spot. The accused will be arrested soon, Gupta said, and added that the motive for the murder is yet to be ascertained. Police have recovered three weapons, including a country-made gun. An investigation team has been formed to trace the accused. Th dog squad and forensic experts have also examined the site.

Ganesh Kammar hailed from Mundgod in Uttara Kannada district and had returned home from Bengaluru last week. His mother Girija said she was not aware that he was going to Dharwad and said they got a call from the police early in the morning informing that her son had been involved in an accident and asking the family to visit Dharwad.
“He told me he will raise money to build a house. He had even got his passport done to find a job abroad”, the grieving mother said.

Meanwhile, it is suspected that Ganesh Kammar may have been a part of the five-member gang which attacked Muhammed Kudachi and may have been killed by his own accomplices.
