HAVERI : Two people, including a youth, who had gone to swim, drowned in a lake at Chikkamanshi Hosur village in Hanagal taluk in the district. The deceased were identified as Malatesh Kurubar (19) and Basavaraj (38).
According to police, Malatesh had gone swimming in the lake and Basavaraj attempted to rescue him. However, both drowned in the water and failed to resurface.
Upon receiving information, firefighters arrived at the scene and fished out Malatesh’s body. A search operation was under way to locate Basavaraj’s body. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Hanagal police station.
