CHIKKABALLAPUR: Two people died while eight others sustained injuries in three accidents in the district on Monday.
A motorcycle collided with a truck near Harobande on the Bengaluru-Hyderabad National Highway-44 resulting in the death of the rider. The truck also caught fire due to the impact.
An hour later, a Toyota Innova MPV crashed into a truck while trying to overtake another vehicle on the same highway near the medical college at Aroor. While the car was badly damaged, the occupants survived with injuries and were shifted to the district hospital.
Earlier in the day, a woman died while two others were injured when a tyre of the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara they were travelling in, burst causing the vehicle to topple, near Alakapura Gate in Gauribidanur taluk.
The deceased was identified as Susheelamma (56) while Murali (38) and Gunavathi (36) sustained injuries and were shifted to a hospital in Gauribidanur. They were returning to Bengaluru after attending a ritual. The incident occurred in Manchenahalli police limits.
