Two burnt alive, two seriously injured after car collided with tipper near Belagavi

The car was engulfed in flames after it hit the diesel tank of the tipper.

BELAGAVI: Two people, including a 12-year-old girl, were burnt alive after their car collided with a tipper near Devagiri Bambaraga Cross in the taluk late on Wednesday night. Two others were seriously injured.

The deceased were identified as Mohan Maruti Belgaonkar (24) of Bambaraga village and Sameeksha Diyekar (12) of Machche village.

Two people were burnt alive in the accident.

Four people were travelling in the car and were heading to Bambaraga village after attending a wedding ceremony. The car hit a tipper near Devagiri Bambaraga Cross and was engulfed in flames after it hit the truck’s diesel tank.

Locals managed to rescue two people, Mahesh Belgaonkar and Sneha Belgundkar who had sustained serious injuries and shifted them to hospital. The fire and emergency services personnel managed to douse the blaze.

Both vehicles were charred in the fire.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Sneha and other senior officials visited the spot. The bodies of the deceased were sent to BIMS for post-mortem examination. The tipper driver surrendered to the police after the accident. The Kakati police have registered a case.
