HASSAN/MADIKERI/MANDYA: Tremors were felt in several parts of Karnataka early on Thursday.

In Hassan district, the tremors, measuring 3.4 on the Richter scale, were felt in Hassan city and some villages in Arkalgud, Holenarsipur taluks between 4.30 am and 5 am, according to the Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre (KSNDMC).

People who were asleep in their houses were woken up by the rumbling and came running out.

People ran out of their houses in many places.

At Doddakadanur village in Holenarsipur taluk, a mud wall of Chandranna’s house collapsed. The epicentre lay 16 km south of Holenarsipur.

In Kodagu district, tremors were felt at Ranger Block in Somwarpet town and Negalli village. Minor termors of 3.4 magnitude were felt in Madikeri town and Devasthoor village.

In Mandya district, tremors were felt at Madapura, Gondihalli, Chinnenahalli and surrounding villages of K R Pet taluk.
