NEW DELHI: Tremors were felt in the national capital and parts of north India including Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab on Tuesday afternoon.
The tremors was felt post 1:30 pm and according to preliminary figures the magnitude was 5.4 on the Richter scale. The epicentre lay in in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr O P Mishra, Director, National Center for Seismology, said an earthquake of 5.4 magnitude was recorded in J&K’s Doda today. Tremors might have been felt in HP, Chandigarh, Punjab and all adjoining areas. “Maybe the aftershock will be of lesser magnitude than the main shock”, he said.
It is likely that the tremors may have been felt in Pakistan and China too. Further details are awaited. (ANI)
