BENGALURU: The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has been flooded with over 40,000 complaints on the Fix My Street app after was relaunched on New Year. According to the civic body, they have receiving 200-300 complaints every day and, till January 14, they have received 40,803 complaints.

The BBMP had set many deadlines for filling potholes in the city, but could not meet them. Hence, the BBMP has relaunched the Fix My Street app.

The Fix My Street application was first launched in 2017 to enable citizens to directly connect with the ward engineers concerned and elected representatives to sort out the problem of potholes. The app is simple and user-friendly.

Besides reporting pothole-related complaints, Fix My Street can be used for registering any civic amenity issues such as streetlight and garbage.

Palike chief engineer B S Prahalad said, “We set a three-day deadline for engineers to fill potholes after receiving a complaint. The civic body employees are also filling potholes in all the eight zones of the BBMP and putting in their best effort”.

On using the app, Prahalad said, “The app is very simple to use and when citizen upload the complaint and photos through the app, it will automatically pick up the geo-location. A work order number will be sent to the complainant and they can check the status of their complaints using the same mobile number. We are receiving a maximum of 350 complaints every day, because many people are not using the app or may not have downloaded it. We cannot avoid potholes on road, but we will fill them wherever they appear and five contractors have been assigned for it in the eight zones of the BBMP. Most of the cases are about digging roads for other works like laying cables”.
