KARWAR: A tourist boat belonging to a private resort was rescued from sinking in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Karwar in Uttara Kannada district, after it sprung a leak.
The boat, which belongs to Cintacore Resort in Kurmagad Island, was taking in water and was on the verge of sinking. Local fishermen and two boat operators rushed to the scene and rescued the boat, towing it safely to the Kali river mouth near Sadashivgad.
Fortunately, there were no casualty as there were no tourists on board, and the situation was brought under control without any major incident. The prompt action of the local fishermen and boat operators prevented a potential disaster.
