CHIKKAMAGALUR: A recent tiger sighting in Mullayyanagiri, a popular tourist destination and the highest point in Karnataka, has put tourists and locals on high alert. Three tigers, including a mother and her cubs, have been spotted roaming the area, causing concern among coffee plantation workers and tourists.

The tigers are believed to have come from the Muthodi Tiger Reserve, and their presence has sparked fears of attacks on humans and livestock. The Forest department has been notified, and officials are taking steps to ensure public safety. Locals are particularly worried as a tiger attack occurred in the area 10 years ago, resulting in the death of a woman.

The Forest department has advised tourists and locals to exercise caution when venturing into the area, especially during the holiday season. The sighting has also raised concerns about the safety of coffee plantation workers, who are already vulnerable to tiger attacks.

The Forest department is working to relocate the tigers and ensure the area is safe for both humans and animals.
